Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 2 June 2026

1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of JGuide (the "Platform"), operated from the United Kingdom and accessible at jguide.co.uk. By creating an account, listing an event, joining a community, or making a booking you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

For any questions about these Terms, email admin@jguide.co.uk.

2. The Platform

JGuide is a community noticeboard. It lets verified partners ("Organisers") list public events and create communities, and lets members of the public ("Users") discover, RSVP to, and book those events. JGuide is not the organiser, host, vendor, or provider of any event listed on the Platform.

3. Accounts

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your email address and password confidential. You are responsible for every action taken under your account.
  • Account information you provide must be accurate. You agree not to impersonate another person, register on behalf of someone without their permission, or use the Platform to harass, defraud, or harm others.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have breached these Terms, applicable law, or community standards.

4. Becoming a verified partner

To list events or create a community you must apply for verified partner status. Approval is at our sole discretion and may be revoked at any time. We do not charge for verified partner status.

5. Listings & community standards

By posting any content (event, community, photo, description) you confirm:

  • You have the right to publish that content.
  • It is accurate, lawful, and not misleading.
  • It does not infringe anyone's copyright, privacy, or other rights, and does not contain hate speech, harassment, sexually explicit material, or illegal content.
  • You grant JGuide a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content on the Platform for the purpose of running and promoting JGuide.

We may remove any listing or community at our sole discretion, without prior notice, where we reasonably believe it breaches these Terms.

6. Payments — important

Where an event requires payment, that payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. directly to the Organiser's connected Stripe account. JGuide does not receive, hold, or settle attendee funds and does not act as the merchant of record for any paid event.

Stripe fees apply. JGuide does not charge a platform fee, but every paid transaction is subject to Stripe's standard processing fees, which are deducted by Stripe from the amount paid before it reaches the Organiser. These fees are set by Stripe and may change at any time. Before listing a paid event, Organisers should check Stripe's current fees and payout terms on the Stripe pricing page. New Stripe accounts may also be subject to a payout hold before the first transfer reaches your bank.

By making a payment you acknowledge that:

  • Your contractual relationship in respect of the paid event is with the Organiser, not with JGuide.
  • All payment processing is governed by Stripe's own Stripe Services Agreement and Stripe Privacy Policy. We are not liable for any act, omission, delay, fraud, chargeback dispute, or technical failure of Stripe or the Organiser.
  • Refunds, cancellations, and disputes for any paid event must be raised with the Organiser directly. JGuide has no authority to issue refunds on the Organiser's behalf and accepts no liability for the Organiser's refund policy or willingness to honour one.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, JGuide is not liable for any financial loss, missed payment, duplicate charge, fraudulent transaction, or other monetary harm arising in connection with payments processed through Stripe or any Organiser.

7. Events & physical safety

Events listed on JGuide are organised, hosted, and supervised by the Organiser, not by JGuide. JGuide does not attend, vet, or supervise events. By attending or registering to attend an event you acknowledge that:

  • You attend at your own risk. The Organiser (and, where relevant, the venue) is responsible for the safety, security, conduct, accessibility, food handling, dietary needs, age-appropriateness, and lawful running of the event.
  • JGuide gives no warranty as to the accuracy of any event description (including times, locations, prices, age restrictions, religious observance, dress code, or content).
  • JGuide is not liable for any personal injury, illness, theft, property damage, emotional distress, allergic reaction, harassment, discrimination, missed event, or any other harm arising out of or in connection with any event listed on the Platform.

8. Communities & user-generated content

Communities on JGuide are managed by their Organisers. Conduct between members, the accuracy of member-shared information, and the management of join requests are the responsibility of the Organiser. JGuide is not liable for the conduct of any member, Organiser, or third party.

9. Third-party services

The Platform relies on third-party services including Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email), Namecheap (domain), and OpenStreetMap / Nominatim (geocoding and map data). We are not responsible for the availability, reliability, performance, or content of these third-party services.

10. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, JGuide disclaims all warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the Platform will be error-free, secure, or continuously available.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • JGuide shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity.
  • JGuide's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform is limited to £100 GBP (one hundred pounds).
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold JGuide, its operators, contributors, and partners harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your use of the Platform, (b) any content you submit, (c) your breach of these Terms, or (d) your conduct at any event.

13. Privacy & cookies

How we handle your personal data and cookies is set out in our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy. By using the Platform you agree to those policies.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above tells you when the current version came into effect. If changes are material we will use reasonable efforts to notify you. Continued use of the Platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Platform, unless local consumer protection law gives you a non-waivable right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
